ESSAYS QUESTIONS What is the position of women´s writing in Poland during the decades of 1989-2009? Discuss the debate on women´s writing in Poland on the chosen example (e.g. P. Czapliński’s standpoint) What are the strategies of adopting the feminist approach in Polish scholarship? What are the main influences on Polish feminist scholarship? What are the main themes in Polish contemporary women’s writing ad what is their function? The notion of menstruation in the Polish literary scene of the 1990s. Discuss. How is the experience of emigration or migration presented in the contemporary women’s writing? Discuss. Is the term “émigré literature” still valid in Poland after 1989? How can we interpret the figure of a cleaning lady in Polish contemporary literature? Can you think of any other similar figures? Discuss. What elements of modern identity are visible in contemporary prose concentrated on travelling? What are the functions of the figure of a woman-traveller in contemporary fiction? Discuss the importance of female story-telling based on analyses of some Polish women’s writing.
